About the Job
Mohenis Services is a leading service company seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering to join our executive team. This is a hands-on role, not behind a desk, and our Chief Engineer must be willing to get their hands dirty when necessary to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities include supervising head plant engineers and their teams of technicians who support the automated processing equipment and the building maintenance of 22 owned facilities covering 10 states.
Our 90-Year-old company family owned and professionally managed company located in the Richmond, Virginia market area. This opportunity is suited for a well-articulated, high-energy individual with at least 5 years' plant maintenance and leadership experience. Thorough knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance programs, procedures, boilers, steam systems, water systems, air compressors, PLC's, welding, piping, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical circuitry and electrical trouble shooting as well as general equipment and building maintenance. Candidate must be energetic, willing to travel (all by car as locations are in contiguous states) can communicate with all levels of management, manage and support engineering teams and coordinate preventative maintenance programs for each location.

Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as a member of the executive team, overseeing engineering operations across multiple facilities in different states.
· Supervise and lead head engineers at each plant, ensuring operational excellence and consistency.
· Perform hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance, overseeing electrical circuitry, PLC systems, boilers, steam systems, compressors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
· Manage and perform inspections to maintain compliance with state and federal permits.
· Directly engage in utility and mechanical troubleshooting, ensuring minimal downtime across all facilities.
Requirements:
· Minimum 5+ years of management experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
· Strong multi-state experience with permit inspections and compliance.
· BSN in Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
· A stationary engineering license or certificate not required, but a bonus.
· Experience with robotics in manufacturing environments preferred, not required.
· Willingness to travel between sites. Approximately 2 weeks per quarter with overnight stays.
· Flexible work schedule and willingness to engage directly in plant operations.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with executive-level teams.
· Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds and perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs.
