About the Job
- 1 year medical records experience
- Familiarity with policies and procedures relating to all aspects of medical record systems (i.e., paper-based and electronic)
- Ability to work effectively with internal corporate departments as well as remote clinic location associates
- Ability to correspond with providers regarding record omissions, inconsistencies to ensure timely completion
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent telephone, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Basic medical terminology understanding with a working knowledge of HIPPA

- Significant ability to review medical records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements to ensure timely reimbursement of billed charges
- Previous medical office or institutional experience
- Knowledge of medical record retention and destruction standards- Sort, file and retrieve medical records into and from EMR system
- Manage and coordinate medical records retention and storage; establish archive and purge schedule in accordance with established policy and standards
- Determine appropriate release of medical record information and prepare correspondence to respond to requests for release of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA as well as all other federal and state laws and regulations
- Enter and retrieve data from electronic medical record system
- Establish process for the payment to company for expense reimbursement associated with the external records requests
- Correspond with providers regarding records with omissions and/or inconsistencies
- Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with internal corporate departments as well as remote clinic locations by facilitating appropriate communication and reporting
- Pull charts and electronic medical records as requested consistent with the minimum necessary HIPAA standard
- Maintain neat and orderly environment in medical records file room
- Perform other clerical and administrative duties as required
