ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Core Systems Manager, you will lead a team responsible for the successful planning, execution, and oversight of core banking systems such as DNA, Loan Director, LFC and Bakerhill. This role involves oversight of system upgrades, coordinating complex configuration changes, system optimization, prioritization of resources, thought leadership on plans for improvement and outage management. The Core Systems Manager and their team will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders such as retail, operations, loan servicing, lending, IT and project management to support critical banking initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of banking processes, program management expertise, and leadership skills to drive impactful results.
The Core Systems Manager is not only managing a team, but also serves as a hands-on contributor supporting day to day business needs. Must be a strategic thinker to manage complex banking systems and lead a team to transcend their performance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (in descending order of importance and should be no more than 10, if possible)
- Oversees and manages the lifecycle of core banking programs, ensuring core initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.
- Leads a team of System Analysts providing guidance, prioritization, goal setting, and supporting professional development.
- Identifies and mitigates risks associated with core banking systems, establishing and following protocols to address issues that arise.
- Develops and delivers regular updates on departmental progresses, metrics, and outcomes.
- Performs independent management of core banking releases, including assessing impact, creating test plans, overseeing system testing, internal communication, and implementation.
- Establishes and builds strategic relationships with 3rd party vendors and other credit union leaders.
- Maintains and establishes policy and procedures for departmental needs and ensures adherence to operational compliance and security procedures.
- Assesses new vendors, enhancements, emerging trends, and roadmap items.
- Audit management for Program Management function, plus timely and accurate delivery of UARs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the FVP, Core & Digital Banking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
BA/BS in computer science, programming, business or related field preferred. 5+ years' proven experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills required. Must be able to think complex and speak in simple terms.
- Strong knowledge of core banking systems and processes required.
- Proficiency in project management required.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience with managing a team of analyst.
- Must be exceptional at strategic and critical thinking. Consistently takes an end-to-end approach to solve problems, assess opportunities and advocate for continuous improvement.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate and influence key stakeholders to support proposed strategies, process improvements and operational decisions.
- Expertise with internal core systems such as DNA and Loan Director.
- Must have a strong service orientation in alignment with the Credit Union's mission, vision and core values.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Strong vendor management skills required.
- Must be willing to gain additional knowledge through self-education and by proactively engaging with others.
- Must have the ability to handle multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with an effective outcome.
