Duties
In addition to all duties in Program Coordinator I, Program Coordinator II will perform these duties:
* Under the supervision of the Planning Council Director, works within the Planning Council Support (PCS) team to ensure all activities are effectively carried out according to Planning Council's annual workplan.
* Coordinates and facilitates monthly meetings for the Council and its committees, including: meeting with Council leadership to develop agendas and timelines, provides the Council with guidance and ideas for innovative approaches, coordinates educational presentations, prepares materials for committee meetings, and provides any necessary administrative assistance (e.g. note taking in meetings).
* Develops, implements, and manages projects and/or initiatives for the Planning Council, serving as a team leader.
* Coordinates reports: collects and synthesizes data and information for Council, assists with funding stream analysis and needs assessment report, and participates heavily in the drafting of proposals and other reports for both HRSA and the Council. Performs literature searches and leads focus groups in the community to identify unmet need for those with HIV.
* Assists in the annual HRSA-mandated priority setting and resource allocation processes.
* Conducts outreach and public relations: ensures that all Council members are aware of relevant events and workshops, participates in Council recruitment, participates in member nominating process and in the mentoring program to guide Council members, and maintains Council web page
* Coordinates and leads skill-building trainings for Council members relating to HIV, community planning, leadership, development and healthcare policy, investigates and recommends new projects and workshops; and coordinates member orientation.
* Evaluates projects or initiatives to determine effectiveness and to recommend changes/improvements.
* Performs other duties as required.
This job description is based on the Program Coordinator Series. May be required to perform any and all duties and responsibilities of a Coordinator I, as set forth in the BPHC Coordinator Series.
* Ideal candidate has an in-depth understanding of the service system for and demographics of communities affected by HIV or related conditions, and the ability to establish rapport and develop strong working relationships with all Council members and the community.
* Master's degree in Public Health, Health Policy Administration, or a related discipline, such as sociology, organizational psychology, public health nursing, or health communications required; OR BA/BS and 2 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing; OR 5 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing may be substituted for undergraduate degree. Licenses, certifications or program specific experience may be required by grant or program needs.
* Advanced experience with and knowledge of local community agencies.
* Experience designing and implementing public health or health related programs and initiatives.
* Knowledge of public health, and epidemiological, outreach and educational models related to HIV or related diseases.
* Demonstrated ability to establish effective communication and working relationships with community providers.
* Ability to write clear, concise reports, & to follow & give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
* Experience planning community meetings and events.
* Excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills.
* Ability and experience working with diverse populations.
* Advanced knowledge & experience with MSOffice and knowledge of data analysis and epidemiology.
* Bilingual, bicultural a plus
