Responsibilities:Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying special studies, providing supervision to Clinical Data Specialists. Working with hospital departments and medical staff to improve the quality of the medical record and achieve compliance with related regulatory requirements. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with Director and Manager to establish/develop the section strategic plan, including annual goals, objectives and budget to meet the hospital’s mission, goals and objectives.
- Responsible/accountable for managing section to ensure effective fiscal management, staffing levels, productivity and achievement of department service standards.
- Collaborates with Director and Manager to evaluate manual/automated procedures, workflow, work assignments, policy and procedures, staffing requirements, new technology, vendors, contracts and industry development for redesign, refinement, etc. for section.
- Collaborates with Director to develop/implement recruitment and retention plan, including hiring, orientation, training, administering human resources policies, procedures, payroll and employee records for section as appropriate.
- Prepares needed statistical and other reports as required internally and externally for section.
- Accountable for managing section to ensure deadlines are met to meet internal reporting requirements. Prepares MRC meeting packet timely and qualitatively.
- Maintains ongoing communication with experts throughout the system to facilitate appropriate and timely forms review/revision to meet regulatory requirements. Develop methodology for cross walk of manual forms to clinical documentation system.Coordinates with Pharmacy to manage physician standing orders development and revision.
REQUIRED:
1. Bachelors Degree
2. RHIA with three years experience in a supervisory capacity in an acute care hospital.
3. 3 years experience JCAHO, chart abstraction, and/or other regulatory review for compliance. 4. Proficiency in Power Point, presentation preparation, display of statistical data and Microsoft Office. 5. Proven process improvement experience.
PREFERRED:
1. Masters Degree
2. Five years experience in a supervisory capacity.
3. Five years experience in JCAHO, chart abstraction, and other regulatory review for compliance.
