The Coordinator for Student Engagement plays a crucial role in the overall engagement for all graduate and international students at The University of New Haven. This role will oversee social, cultural, community service and diversity, equity, and inclusion programming for graduate and international students. The coordinator will work closely with campus partners such as; The Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation, The Myatt Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Residential Life, Marketing, Athletics, and ChargerRec. The coordinator will supervise a Graduate Assistant and work closely with the other members within the Graduate & International Student Life Office.
You are:
- Detail oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Able to establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff
- An effective communicator who possess excellent interpersonal skills
You will:
- Oversee social activities (in-person and virtual) for graduate and international students
- Oversee the Planning & Coordination of International Student Programs
- Coordinate and plan community service, DEI and cultural programs and initiatives
- Assist with large scale events
- Serve on planning committees for Holiday Fest, Welcome Week and Spirit Week
- Supervise the Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement
- Be responsible for all marketing efforts of the office
- Assist with the planning and execution of new graduate student orientations in August & January
- Oversee the recruitment, selection and training of graduate orientation and transition leaders
- Submit purchase requisitions and coordinate with accounts payable
- Coordinate photography and/or video at all graduate and international student programs
- Book reservations in the University of New Haven
- Assist with chaperoning events and programs for the office as well as Graduate and International student organizations
- Serve on committees as assigned such as Charger Pride Committee and Student Affairs Program Saturation Committee
- Perform other duties as assigned
You need:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in higher education or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience developing and implementing student programs including virtual programming
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office Programs especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and iMovie are a plus but not required
- Previous experience with cultural and diversity programming is preferred
- Some management or previous supervisory experience is preferred
