Calvert Manor Healthcare Center is currently recruiting for a Full time Cook. As a Cook at Calvert Manor you will provide supervision and oversight of the kitchen including but not limited to; preparing and cooking resident meals, managing and training staff, coaching and counseling employees, scheduling, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and purchasing production needs. The Cook is responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen. Every other weekend is required, and long-term care experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES
Prepares meals and food in line with dietary needs of residents.
- Ensure menus, recipes and special diets are followed according to local and State regulations with minimal waste or leftovers. Develop, modify and utilize recipes in consultation with the Dietary Director.
- Ensure that tray line procedures are properly followed in order to best meet resident safety and satisfaction. Work with the Dietary Director to create or change menus as needed.
- Schedules food preparation to adhere to service scheduled and established meal hours. Develop, maintain and monitor the use of cleaning schedules to ensure all regulatory compliance continues to be met. Monitor equipment for proper functioning and use and ensure maintenance requests are submitted as needed with follow up as appropriate.
- Manages employee schedules to ensure the needs of the department and all local, state and federal laws are being followed and managed.
- Ensures staff completes work assignments in safe & timely manner.
- Provides routine training for staff members. Follow facility policy for department compliance of mandatory education/in-services. Train staff to properly use all kitchen equipment.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings on time. Participate in committee meetings as assigned. Coordinate with other departments for any special events. Maintain positive, open communication with the Director, and all other departments.
- Acts in lieu of Director of Food and Nutrition Services. The Supervisor is always expected to act with the utmost professionalism and lead by example within the department, and facility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- The ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
- The ability to ambulate throughout the facility is required.
- The ability to reach, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time are required.
- The ability to lift weights up to 30 pounds is required.
- Fine hand coordination is required.
- The ability to push and pull carts using up to 22 pounds of force is required.
- Computer skills are essential.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
- Prior experience in dietary leadership and operations is highly beneficial.
- Excellent time management skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills are required.
- The ability to make decisions with good judgment is required.
- The ability to work as scheduled and to consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality is required.
- The Kitchen Supervisor and Cook, will be required to complete ServSafe certification withing 6 months of accepting position, and according to the standards of The National Restaurant Association.
