A leading energy company in Santa Fe Springs, CA is seeking an experienced Conventional Machinist to join the team. This role involves setting up and machining simple to complex parts, working with a wide range of alloy materials (such as stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, alloy, and carbon steel) with tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating conventional machine tools, fabricating parts according to engineering specifications, and maintaining equipment. Conventional Machinist Responsibilities:

• Layout, set up, and operate conventional machine tools, including horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes, horizontal & vertical boring mills, surface grinders, etc.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Create simple to complex tooling as needed for production runs.
• Machine both small and large parts with very tight tolerances.
• Perform advanced setups on mills or lathes and independently machine all types of materials.
• Design and implement setup methods in areas where none currently exist.
• Collaborate with the mechanical department and other shop personnel on machining techniques.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance production quality and reduce costs.
• Maintain equipment and perform housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Conventional Machinist Requirements:

• Proficient in setting up and operating conventional machine tools, such as horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes, horizontal & vertical boring mills, surface grinders, and others.
• Strong proficiency with precision measuring tools, with the ability to measure to ten-thousandths of an inch.
• Ability to machine a wide variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, alloy, and carbon steel.
• Strong attention to detail and experience in advanced machining techniques.
• Ability to design and implement complex machining setups independently.
• Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent training is preferred.
• Open to working flexible hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
