Position Summary:
The Controls Engineer Lead will develop and troubleshoot engineering designs for AMF Bakery System's products. This includes current standard machines/systems, custom products, legacy products, and sales support. This position is responsible for hardware and software design for machine and/or control systems for assigned AMF projects. This is a leadership position requiring ownership of design/standardization/functionality/improvements to the product line.
Responsibilities include ensuring drawings are accurate and are compliant with the latest electrical code, assisting the Electrical Assembler during system build, machine/system preflight check out, Field Service assistance and installation as required, which may require travel to customer bakeries.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The majority of workload in engineering consists of the following but is not limited to the following all of which need to be clear, complete and concise:

•Designing control systems from concept to completion. The design and components are to be in accordance with AMF and customer standards.
•Prepare machine design which includes all power, control systems and electrical diagrams required to meet the customers specifications for each project assigned
•Markup drawings calculate electrical specs (FLA, Heat/AC requirements, etc.) and work with Control Specialists to ensure the drawings are accurate and follow the latest electrical code.
•Prepare complete and accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the Machine/System design
•Prepare Machine/System Programs in accordance with AMF Standards
•Prepare Machine/System Operator Interface programs in accordance with AMF Standards
•Compile and document PLC and HMI programs (as needed) for each machine, and confirm they are up to date with OneAMF standard.
•Prepare spare parts list for AMF systems as requested.
•Assist the Controls Engineering and Product Managers during the scope phase of a potential project; design the Electrical Systems for the customer/sold specs.
•Drive engineering schedule and meetings for projects.
•Delegate projects to teammates accordingly.
•Lead the team using milestones and assignment due dates.

•Provide field service technicians remote support during system service, installation and commissioning.
•Provide on site troubleshooting and startup support.
•Make on site program modifications as needed and required.
R&D/VAVE/SDP

•Lead and Drive SDP and R&D initiatives.
•Conduct VAVE as required and needed.
•Delegate and manage all product development in the controls platform.
What you need to succeed:
•BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field. A combination of an AA degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
•7+ years programming controls/electrical engineering experience
•Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
•Proven problem-solving skills
•Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project
•Ability to work well in a team environment and project a good image for AMF
•Must know industrial communications (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNET, Profibus, etc.)
•Programming using: Studio 5000, RSLogix (5, 500, 5000), RsLinx, BootP-DHCP Tool, VMWare, Factory Talk View Studio, AutoCAD
•Programming of Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware and software (primarily Panel View Plus series)
•Execution of Allen Bradley PLC hardware and software (primarily Logic5000)
•Understand design and how a machine mechanically functions
•Understand electrical codes and regulations such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and UL 508a as well as agency approvals to control systems manufactured at AMF
•Travel is required at 25% to 30%
Supervision Received:
This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering/PGL. This position works with minimal supervision.
Supervision Given:
This position directly supervises others. It provides guidance and engineering direction to Engineers, Controls Specialists, Assembly, Field Service and Sales.
