About the Job
Per Se is collaborating with a client in Houston, Texas, seeking a mid to senior-level control systems engineer specializing in the design, development, programming, and testing of Honeywell DCS-based control systems within the industrial petrochemical sector.
Responsibilities:
- Creating Control System Functional Specifications
- Designing control systems and performing capacity analysis
- Developing DCS logic and interface software applications in accordance with customer/company specifications and industry standards
- Developing and executing test procedures
- Writing operations manuals
- Providing remote support and troubleshooting post-installation
- Coordinating with the project team for scheduling, scope management, and execution
Required Skills and Competencies:
Fundamental Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Proficient with MS Office Applications
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and general process specifications
- Understanding of plant-wide and package control system architecture
- Knowledge of safety within control system applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both internal team members and external clients
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Technical writing skills
- Familiarity with general terminology within the oil and gas industrial sector; knowledge of other sectors is a plus
Controls:
- Experience configuring and maintaining Honeywell Experion DCS-based control systems
- Proficiency in Honeywell Visualization (HMI) configuration
- Knowledge of other controllers, HMIs, and general programming languages is a plus
- Ability to specify, configure, and wire controllers, I/O, and communication modules
- Experience in developing documentation such as Functional Specifications, Control Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect diagrams, Operations Manuals, and Testing Procedures
Required Education and Experience:
- College degree or vocational certificate in a relevant field
- At least 6 years of experience in programming and supporting Honeywell DCS and related control systems
