About the Job
Located in Dallas, Texas, we are seeking a Building Automation Controls Engineer skilled in designing, programming, and optimizing Alerton building management systems. This position involves creating and implementing network architecture, submittal preparation, programming, troubleshooting, and integrating third-party controllers to expand existing BAS installations. You will support technicians, develop system logic, and ensure efficient and reliable system operations. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, with an emphasis on renovation projects and maintaining distributed control systems for robust functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Design Alerton BAS systems, including network architecture and submittal preparation.
- Develop and write programming for Alerton systems, with a focus on Central Plant applications.
- Integrate third-party BACnet-compatible equipment controllers.
- Create graphics design and implement as needed.
- Provide remote troubleshooting and support to field technicians.
- Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, and Microsoft Suite for engineering design and documentation.
- Work on renovation projects, with some involvement in new construction as needed.
- Ensure system designs prioritize distributed control logic within local controllers.
- Collaborate with teams to meet project specifications and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of specific Alerton BAS experience (additional experience welcomed).
- Proficiency in Alerton system programming and design.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, and Microsoft Suite tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and HVAC equipment operations.
- Experience with various HVAC systems, including:
- Built-up AC units with DX or chilled water cooling
- VAV AHUs, multi-zone AHUs, hydronic systems, and specialty systems
- Terminal unit systems (2-pipe, 4-pipe, VAV boxes, fan coil units, etc.)
- Project experience in building types such as K-12, universities, municipal buildings, hospitals, industrial plants, and military bases.
- Ability to manage expansions of existing Alerton BAS installations.
Preferred Background for the Role:
- Experience with renovation projects over new construction.
- A detailed understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and control logic.
- Familiarity with a variety of building types and operational systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills.
