Yaskawa is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Applications Engineering group located at our headquarters facility in Waukegan, IL. This role is responsible for providing and coordinating sustained and timely pre- and post-sales technical support and overall project execution to users of Variable Frequency Drives, Robots and Servo and Motion Control products and technology for a wide variety of Packaging Industry applications within North and South America. The Controls Engineer will provide in-depth product, application, and process knowledge on automation products, systems, projects, and solutions that meet Yaskawa industry standards. This position will represent Yaskawa in a professional and competent manner to instill confidence in the customer, and develop relationships with customers in order to enhance the utilization of Yaskawa products and services. The role will interface closely with sales, product marketing, engineering peers and management to solve customer problems.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Four year BS Degree with focus studies in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering, or equivalent related work experience
- Understands and is knowledgeable of discrete automation solutions, specifically with Servo Motion Control, Camming-type applications, and Robot applications.
- Minimum 3 years of field experience or equivalent involving Yaskawa America, Inc. (YAI) or competitor product lines, applications, and projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including technical writing and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong organization skills and strong time management with a team approach.
- Ability to mentor and answer technical questions from other members of the engineering support team.
