POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Design Engineer is responsible for design, programming and commissioning of a variety of industrial control and automation systems. These include pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls and PLC systems. In addition, they will provide technical support to customers, along with the field service team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controls Design Engineering role will include but may not be limited to:
• Develop electrical schematics and drawings in AutoCAD
• Develop pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and drawings in AutoCAD
• Interpret mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic design drawings for electrical requirements
• 3D design using Solidworks
• Logic design using Omron and Unitronics PLC’s and HMI units
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOM’s)
• Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications
• Check quality of assemblers and technicians work and respond to inquiries during assembly
• Sales support role will include but may not be limited to:
o Work with Sales Engineers to provide customer application support and quote preparation as required
o Conceptual circuit design and quote generation
o Product component selection and recommendation.
o Problem solving and troubleshooting of system circuits.
o Problem solving and troubleshooting of major system components.
o Circuit and system design assistance for customers.
• Direct telephone interface with customer personnel to discuss applications and act in a technical advisory role to resolve and answer technical questions posed by our customers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus direct experience in industrial automation applications, including electrical design and PLC programming / troubleshooting.
• Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Strong electrical / mechanical aptitude; the ability to understand and apply advanced fluid power and electrical and electronic technology
• Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
