Our esteemed organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit accounting and be well versed in Sage Intacct. This role will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including month-end close, tracking fixed assets, preparing depreciation schedules, and serving as the 401k plan administrator. The Controller will also be tasked with maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts, preparing quarterly tax filings, and processing accounts payable and receivable. This role is a key player in strategic planning and budgeting, and will contribute significantly to the financial success and stability of our organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform month-end close process, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
2. Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules in accordance to accounting standards.
3. Function as the 401k plan administrator; manage all withholdings and transmittals.
4. Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
5. Prepare quarterly tax filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
6. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all payments are made and received in a timely manner.
7. Participate in strategic planning initiatives, providing financial insights and projections.
8. Assist in budgeting processes, ensuring all financial resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, within the non-profit sector.
3. Proficiency in Sage Intacct is required.
4. Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and procedures.
5. Proven experience as a 401k plan administrator.
6. Extensive experience with month-end close processes, fixed asset tracking, and depreciation schedules.
7. Ability to prepare and file quarterly tax filings.
8. Experience with accounts payable and receivable processes.
9. Strong strategic planning and budgeting skills.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
