About the Job
Controller:
Does an opportunity to oversee a bank’s financial health interest you? We’re working with a well-established, multi-billion-dollar community bank seeking a talented Controller to support their Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and oversee their accounting operations. As a Controller, you will play a key role in managing the bank’s finances, maintaining fiscal integrity, and leading a team within the accounting department. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in accounting and finance.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Oversee and execute daily operations and functions of the Accounting Department to include accounts payable and funds management, ensuring effective and efficient use of time and resources
- Support the CFO in managing finance and accounting activities.
- Provide leadership direction and mentorship to include fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continual professional growth to the accounting department.
- Team leadership of three direct reports: an Assistant Controller and two Accounts Payable Specialists.
- Monitor accuracy in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Oversee monthly reconciliation completion and review.
- Guarantee the department's compliance with FDICIA requirements and maintain effective internal controls in the financial reporting process.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting which will support business decisions for the entirety of the bank.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in an accounting-related role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred. Banking experience preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor staff.
- Strong expertise in financial analysis and regulatory reporting.
