About the Job
Overview:
As a controller, you will play a crucial role in guiding and managing financial operations, fostering growth, and ensuring compliance across our organization and its affiliates. We are seeking a proactive and skilled professional to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all accounting functions within the organization.
- Collaborate with operational teams to facilitate timely month-end closings and prepare comprehensive monthly reporting packages.
- Prepare and analyze month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial documents, including variance analysis.
- Coordinate audits with internal and external auditors, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.
- Review and authorize daily accounting transactions.
- Provide support for monthly forecasts and annual budgeting processes.
- Proactively address challenges and offer effective solutions.
- Delegate tasks to accounting team members as appropriate.
- Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
- Assist with various corporate projects as required.
- Potentially oversee subordinate supervisors responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, including performance evaluations and conflict resolution.
- Evaluate and propose enhancements for more efficient accounting processes.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Commitment to upholding health and safety standards in alignment with company policies.
- Proficiency in Excel and other relevant computer applications.
- In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles, including percentage of completion calculations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in mentoring and developing accounting team members.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of interacting effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to interpret business literature and regulations, prepare reports and correspondence, and effectively present information.
- Skilled in defining problems, collecting and analyzing data, and drawing valid conclusions.
