Job Details
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the monthly financial statement preparation for the single family and homebuilding businesses and coordinate with the CFO, Single
Family team and leadership on the final presentation of the financial results to corporate management, lenders and outside investors, as
necessary.
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process for HB division and projects.
- Manage the accounting staff.
- Create, prepare and manage annual business plan, budgets, forecasts and reforecasts
- Produce management reports that summarize and analyze the homebuilding division’s historical and projected business activity and financial
position and analyze actual results in comparison to budget and reforecasts.
- Oversee monthly draw process for all homebuilding lines of credit and project funding.
- Coordinate with the corporate Treasurer and Capital Markets to forecast capital needs, support lender relationships and facilitate draws and
payoffs.
- Work directly with the Company’s external auditors.
- Oversee job costing procedures and monthly job forecasting process.
- Establish internal control system for businesses, including review/prequalification of subcontracts, payments to vendors, bonding, and review of
vendor financial statements
- Manage the evaluation and potential implementation of a new software management system to facilitate enhanced purchasing and estimating,
budget management, competitive and timely payment of trade partners, sales and prospect management and financial reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in
person; able to interface with top level executives.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and
carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to clearly communicate financial results to Senior Management.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent
change, delays, or unexpected events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Staff Accountants
Required Education and Experience:
- Experience in: Homebuilding, Real Estate Development or Construction
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and CPA
- 5+ years accounting relevant experience in real estate with a homebuilder or construction firm
- 8+ years’ experience in all aspects of accounting
- Proven supervisory experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience with Sage (formerly called Timberline), CMIC, BuilderMT, and/or Buildtopia
- Previous public accounting experience
