Job Details
The Controller will advise, monitor and manage the key financial metrics for the company while identifying opportunities for process improvements. This Controller will help the Finance organization by working with the CFO to lead the financial area providing the skills necessary to achieve the company’s financial and operational goals.
The ideal Controller candidate will have demonstrated “hands-on” financial management experience in manufacturing and distribution. The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation and be able to work with all teams supporting the various functional areas of each company.
Responsibilities
· Prepare regular financial reports including monthly profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash flows.
· Administer monthly and annual closing process for ERP system.
· Ensure the production of timely, accurate and relevant financial analysis and reporting to help move the business forward.
· Assist in development of financial planning and analysis tools supporting all areas of the company’s operations, as required.
· Analyze monthly financial results including variances to budgets and prior periods and the ability to present findings to senior management.
· Manage the company’s product pricing process in cooperation with the Sourcing, Operations, Product Management and Sales teams.
· Oversee payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions ensuring positive relationships with employees, vendors and customers.
· Interact with the company’s auditors, providing all necessary information to enable a timely and accurate audit in accordance with US GAAP.
· Oversee treasury management functions ensuring cashflow remains adequate to meet the company’s obligations.
· Ensure all Federal and state income tax returns are filed and paid on a timely basis.
Traits Necessary for Success
· Direct, hands-on experience with financial statement preparation in a multi-company environment.
· Ability to manage the budget and forecasting processes.
· High degree of comfort working with computerized ERP systems.
· Advanced MS Excel skills required. Familiarity with MS Access or other database products is beneficial.
· Familiarity with foreign currency transactional accounting.
Expected Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
· A minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience.
· A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
· CPA or CMA is very beneficial
