PrideStaff Financial is currently assisting a not-for-profit family services organization in the recruitment of a Controller.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for the Organization’s financial transactions, as well as for developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”). The Controller is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the system of financial controls, including general accounting, investment accounting, tax compliance, planning, budgeting, banking, payroll, and benefits. The Controller is expected to be familiar with Department of Developmental Disabilities guidelines to ensure state compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must have a dedication to the tax-exempt sector, ability to exercise discretion, work independently, take initiative, meet multiple and competing deadlines, participate as an effective team member, and follow task through to completion. 2. 5 year related accounting experience in private foundation/public charity settings. Knowledge of Not-for Profit GAAP is required. 3. Knowledge of Department of Developmental Disabilities a plus. 4. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and C.P.A required. 5. Proficient in using a computerized accounting system, solid knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel proficiency a must). Experience in accounting software ex. Great Plains needed. 6. Comfortable utilizing technology/software and paper trail. 7. Excellent Organizational skills and prioritization skills a must. Ability to work in a high demand environment. 8. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills including: verbal and written.
