Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is an important part of Fiscal Affairs team and a collaborative partner in meeting various institutional goals and objectives. Additionally, the Controller will demonstrate by example, a clear commitment to providing excellent customer service. Moreover, the Controller ensure effective administrative support for students, faculty, and staff for the campus.
Job duties:
The Controller will be responsible for a wide array of tasks centered on financial management and oversight. These duties are crucial in upholding the financial stability and integrity of the institution.
Key duties and responsibilities are:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting: Overseeing the institution's financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Budget Management: Developing and managing the institution's annual budget, working closely with various departments to align financial planning with the institution's goals.
- Internal Controls and Compliance: Establishing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard the institution's assets and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinating internal and external audits, preparing audit reports, and implementing recommendations to improve financial practices.
- Policy Development: Formulating and enforcing financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the institution.
- Team Leadership: Leading and managing the finance team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff to ensure effective financial operations.
- Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborating with senior leadership to address strategic financial issues and support the institution's long-term financial health.
- Treasury Operations: Managing treasury functions, including cash flow, investments, and debt management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University in a relevant field such as business, finance, or accounting and 7 years of experience; or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Experience working in Higher Education
- Experience with Financial Software such as Populi and Financial Edge NXT
