ASSA ABLOY Norton Rixson in Monroe, NC is the North American Center of Excellence for Door Motion Control products. Primarily sold under the Norton Rixson brand, we have manufactured and distributed mechanical and electro-mechanical door closers, low energy door operators, concealed door closers, and various accessories related to door motion control from this location for more than 60 years.
ASSA ABLOY Norton Rixson in Monroe, NC is currently seeking a Controller with strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly focus on details. High energy and extensive experience in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment are ideal skills for this role.
What would you be doing in this role?
Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller will work closely with other senior management to add measurable value to the company. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the general accounting functions for the site ensuring that accounting records and financial data are accurately stated in accordance with GAAP and international financial reporting. This role is also a hands-on leader actively participating and continuously improving the accounting and reporting functions of the company.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly focus on details.
- Ensure credibility of Finance and Accounting group by providing timely and accurate preparation and analysis of budgets, financial trends, forecasts, and results.
- In conjunction with the senior leadership team, identify, maintain, and report on daily, weekly, monthly and annual metrics that accurately measure the Company’s operating performance versus stated objectives. Identify areas for improvement and work with functional leaders to develop improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership team members so as to identify their needs; seek to provide finance/accounting team support.
- Continuously build an intimate knowledge of the Company’s business, customers, profit drivers and the implications of the external competitive markets and environmental factors that may affect strategy and operating results.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and international financial reporting and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Actively participate in the monthly closing process by preparing and posting journal entries; analyzing accounts and adjusting as needed; and creating meaningful analyses along with detail explanations of activity versus forecast and prior year. Ensure reporting meets or exceeds corporate deadline requirements.
- Prepare daily sales report along with mid-month and month-end sales and gross margin reports.
- Lead preparation for the annual physical inventory and cost roll including daily cycle counts and cost rolls.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual budget and be a key contributor in the annual strategic planning process and the development of operational objectives for the plant that are aligned to corporate strategic objectives.
- Assist in leading/supporting teams in the development of projects that improve productivity, cash flow, and EBIT.
What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or MBA a plus.
- Five to ten years experience as Plant Controller or Cost Manager in a manufacturing environment, managing staff, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with subordinates, peers, and upper management.
- Strong Excel spreadsheet capabilities. Business Objects, HFM, and JDE proficiency preferred.
- Very high attention to detail, good organizational skills, good communication skills, reacts well to time pressure, comfortable working in plant environment and is motivated to learn all aspects of the manufacturing operation.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to focus on details, as necessary.
