We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our thriving construction company. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. The Controller will be a crucial part of our team, providing leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the company.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate all financial planning, budget management functions, and ensure company accounting procedures conform with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
2. Oversee the smooth operation of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive job cost system and direct and coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
4. Prepare and present monthly financial reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division, and weekly cash flow by division.
5. Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
6. Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
7. Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
8. Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
9. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or MBA preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP.
4. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
5. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
6. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
7. Proven experience in financial planning and strategy, managing profitability, corporate finance, and quality management.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Strong leadership qualities and a team player mentality.
