Job Details
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the financial activities of our organization, including financial reporting, billing, payables, and managing relationships with financial institutions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in legal billing, specifically in managing billable hours for attorneys and paralegals. This is a full-time position, with working hours from 9 am to 6 pm.
Responsibilities
As a Controller, you will be responsible for:
1. Overseeing all financial operations of the organization, including billing, payables, and financial reporting.
2. Managing billable hours for attorneys and paralegals, ensuring accurate and timely billing processes.
3. Preparing financial reports for equity partner meetings, providing insightful analysis and projections.
4. Building and maintaining relationships with financial institutions, ensuring optimal financial management and support.
5. Utilizing TABS3 software for financial management and reporting.
6. Conducting financial projections and calculations, supporting strategic planning and decision-making.
7. Creating and managing complex spreadsheets, ensuring accurate data analysis and reporting.
8. Leading and developing a high-performing finance team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, within the legal industry.
2. Proven experience in managing billable hours for attorneys and paralegals.
3. Proficiency in financial reporting, billing, and payables.
4. Experience in preparing financial reports for equity partner meetings.
5. Strong relationships with financial institutions and experience in managing these relationships.
6. Proficiency in using TABS3 software for financial management and reporting (willing to train on this).
7. Excellent management skills, with a proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
8. Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to conduct financial projections and calculations.
9. Proficiency in using spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
