Groot Hospitality is a Miami Beach, Florida-based collective of top restaurants, bars, cafés, nightlife ventures and hotels. Officially formed in 2018 by David Grutman, the company is a forerunner in its field. The group creates entirely unique atmospheres of upscale dining, luxe decor, marquee entertainment and highly shareable moments. Current Groot Hospitality properties include: The Goodtime Hotel, the nightclubs LIV and STORY, the restaurants Gekkō, Komodo, The Key Club, Papi Steak, Strawberry Moon and Swan. At both the Goodtime Hotel and Swan, Grutman is partners with the multi-hyphenate musician and producer Pharrell Williams – the pair will also open their first resort, Somewhere Else on Atlantis Paradise Island, in 2024. Grutman is also partners with the recording artist and actor Bad Bunny on Gekkō. Multiple other projects are in the pipeline, including an expansion plan that will bring Groot Hospitality to cities worldwide.

We are seeking a Controller to oversee the management of financial statements, prepare a forecast and budget data, analyze & prepare key financial schedules/deliverables and assist in other special reporting projects as needed.
The day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Duties and Job duties
- Perform financial statement analysis, review and compare P&Ls to budgets.
- Responsible for oversight of financial statements
- Interface with senior management to review performance, explain and control variances and assist in achievement and tracking of objectives.
- Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company. Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management.
- Assist corporate and venue management in the preparation of all key budget schedules across an array of restaurants; analyze budget data and assist in the preparation of required budget schedules.
- Monitor cash flow of all properties.
- Establish property level policies for EOM Accruals.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Month-End Close:
- Establish week-end and month-end checklists and ensure completion
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure proper treatment under GAAP.
- Prepare variance analysis and participate in month-end financial review.
Systems and Internal Controls:
- Manage process improvement plans and new systems development.
- Ensure accounting systems/subsystems are appropriate for max efficiency and planned growth.
- Periodically evaluate internal controls procedures and effect change where necessary.
- Update policies and procedures on a semi-annual basis to ensure they are still applicable.

Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience involving financial statement preparation and general ledger/accounting (hospitality experience preferred but not required)
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Oracle experience preferred but not required
- High degree of initiative. The high degree of organization
- Proven management and interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
