Our client is a small to mid-sized real estate development company with a wide portfolio of residential and commercial assets. They are a growing firm with room to advance as their investments expand across the USA. They are looking for an energetic and knowledgeable Controller.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$130k
Position Overview:
The Controller is responsible for managing key financial decisions for a Real Estate company in Miami. The Controller should have prior experience working within the property industry and should be prepared to oversee day-to-day accounting needs in addition to long-term strategic planning.
Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Overseeing and managing the entire Accounting department: This includes ensuring all financial reports are prepared accurately and timely, and that all financial procedures and controls are followed.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports: The Controller is responsible for preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries.
- Conducting regular audits: Regular audits ensure the company’s financial practices are in line with regulatory requirements and standards.
- Managing budget and financial planning: The Controller needs to prepare the company’s annual budget and monitor actual performance against the budget, taking action to correct any discrepancies.
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations: The Controller is responsible for ensuring that all tax forms and payments are accurate and submitted on time.
- Liaising with external auditors: This includes coordinating with external auditors to ensure all audit processes are smooth and efficient.
- Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation: The Controller needs to stay updated with the latest changes in financial regulations and standards to ensure the company remains compliant.
- Managing the company’s financial systems and processes: The Controller is responsible for ensuring that the financial systems are accurate, efficient, and secure.
- Analyzing the company’s financial performance: The Controller needs to analyze and interpret financial data to help the company make informed business decisions.
- Advising the senior management team: Serves as an advisor to the senior management on strategic financial decisions, related to investments, cash management, financial risk assessment, and long-term financial planning.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- 8+ years of accounting experience in the real estate industry.
- Opportunity for Accounting Manager to become a Controller.
- Ability to commute to Miami CPA or CMA is preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, in Accounting or Finance is required.
