he Controller is responsible for the daily accounting operations of our commercial portfolio including hotel, apartment and retail. The Controller will be responsible to oversee and review all the financial reporting, daily and period end accounting activities, performing general ledger financial analysis, cash management, cash flow analysis, account reconciliations, preparing annual year-end projections, and analyzing monthly and year-to date budget variances with a cost-saving thinking.
Responsibilities
Maintain and manage all accounting activities of the portfolio, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to management.
Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors and accountants as required.
Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with asset management team to reduce expenses or increase profit.
Manage and maintain project budgeting and forecasting.
Communicate routinely with asset management team and operators on a variety of job-related topics including funding, schedules, contracts, financial forecasts, and payments.
Requirements
Proven experience in commercial real estate accounting and financial management
Strong knowledge of project accounting concepts.
Solid experience tracking down the right data and figures and digging into large amounts of data to get to the bottom of tricky financial problems.
An ability and drive to go the extra mile and persistence to be able to present recommendations.
Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. i.e. demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
