Job Details
The Controller will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and financial reporting, and oversight of a team of staff accountants (both internally and externally managed).
Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities
- Manage the daily accounting for an open-ended industrial portfolio that’s comprised of distribution warehouse and outdoor storage logistic centers
- Assist in managing relationships and liaise with internal resources, external resources, external fund administrator(s), and external auditors to meet all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines
- Assist with external CPA firms to meet quarterly/annual tax compliance requirements
- Oversee and review monthly/quarterly/annual property financial reports with fund administrator and 3rd party property managers
- Assist with debt compliance reporting
- Review of quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures for the joint venture as well as capital account summaries for limited partners
- Assist with preparation of quarterly/annual/ad-hoc reporting requirements to investors for private REITs
- Prepare/maintain cash flow projections and daily cash management
- Prepare and assist with ad-hoc limited partner, capital markets, investor relations and front-office requests
- Various special projects/reports for both internal and external use
Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Licensed CPA (or candidate for licensure) preferred
Experience Required
- At least 7 plus years of relevant professional experience including public accounting and/or fund accounting experience
- Real estate accounting and system knowledge a plus
- Advanced Excel experience strongly preferred

- Strong understanding of business and accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent Excel skills (know basic functions such as index/match, v and h lookup, sumifs, pivot tables)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize/manage deadlines
- Excellent commonsense, organizational, and interpersonal skills
