Job Description:
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions within the logistics operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including detailed schedules for key accounts such as prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting practices specific to logistics, including tracking transportation and warehousing costs, labor, and overhead.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations, such as transportation costs, warehousing costs, and asset utilization.
- Oversee the budget and forecasting process, analyzing variances, and providing insights to improve financial performance.
- Manage cash flow, monitor working capital, and oversee credit and collections to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Review and approve expense reports, invoices, and capital expenditures, ensuring proper classification and compliance.
- Coordinate and support annual audits, preparing schedules and documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to provide financial guidance on key initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and process improvements.
- Prepare regulatory filings and ensure compliance with relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or participate in special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing internal controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Proven experience in a controller role within the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and logistics-related financial metrics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, preferably in a logistics setting.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP/IFRS and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments
