The primary role of this position as a Controller overseas the accounting, budgeting and reporting activities for the entire company. You will work directly with the owner/s and alongside the Project Accountants, Project Managers and AP/AR Coordinators.
Responsibilities
Oversee & manage the operations of the accounting department
Maintain a system of accounting policies & procedures
Review & Process any and all business transactions
track assets, billables, and depreciations, journal entries.
Review & Reconcile Accounts (chart of accounts)
Bank accounts, Credit cards, suppliers, subcontractors, clients
Manage Bank Account
Record cash receipts, make deposits, positive pay, process ACH & Wire payments, manage cash flow
Monthly WIP Reporting
Payroll
Process weekly payroll, record payroll in Sage, make adjustments as necessary
Assist with gathering information for Audits, compliance, etc.
Workers comp., 401k, taxes, benefits, payroll, etc.
Process weekly AP check runs
Process & finalize quarterly & year end financials.
Provide KPI snapshots monthly to owner.
Manage W9 & Sage information.
year end 1099's
Revenue Recognition as Percentage of Completion Method
Ensure proper cash handling standards are established and maintained
Prepare and maintain reports/schedules for senior management and other team members, as well as external auditors and other business partners
Required Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
Previous construction experience preferred
5-7 years of experience of progressive accounting experience
Experience working with SAGE 100 ERP system (preferred)
Experience working independently in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
Experience reconciling general ledger accounts to schedules
Confidence, good judgment, energy, and personality to work in a dynamic business environment across all levels of management and departments.
