Controller - Essential Duties
Accounting functions
- Supervision of business unit accounting functions, ensuring compliance with management and accounting policies, internal controls, general ledger maintenance, coordination with corporate finance functions, timely and accurate submission of reporting packages, development of local operating measurements, etc.
- Calculation of monthly journal entries, in coordination with corporate accounting. Includes accruals of vacation liability, management bonus, warranty, etc.
- Assist in development and maintenance of appropriate controls over assets
- Coordinate with corporate finance functions (corporate reporting, tax, treasury, accounting services) to ensure that timely and accurate reports and information are provided
- Point of contact for external audit and tax firm
- Manage Concur travel & expense reporting/company car/credit card systems
- Analysis and reporting on business unit sales, cost of goods sold, margins and expenses
- Works with management team to ensure that manufacturing transactions and controls are in place and operating effectively as well as develops operating measurements and reporting to manage operations performance and analysis of cost of goods sold
- Assists in preparation and presentation of reports and materials for operations reviews
- Coordination of annual plan and periodic re-projections
- Assist in strategy analysis; discussion and preparation of financial recommendations
- Takes initiative to identify, develop recommendations and assist in implementation of process improvements.
- Review capital investment projects and requests; monitor progress in implementation and recommend changes if appropriate
- Completion of special projects and other duties as assigned
- Lead the finance team (accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger) professionally and in terms of personnel management.
Controller - Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required
- Big 4 audit experience is preferred
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience

- Leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving ability, organized, analytical; able to work with detailed information and provide high level analysis
- Ability to work independently, working proactively and taking initiative to achieve desired results
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong skills using analytical and report writing software (such as Excel, MS Access)
