Overview:
As the Controller for our manufacturing company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial aspects of our operations. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and optimize our cost accounting processes to ensure accurate financial reporting and to provide strategic insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting Management:
Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures.
Analyze manufacturing costs and variances, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Oversee inventory valuation, including monitoring raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory levels.
Implement and maintain standard costing systems to accurately track production costs and analyze variances.
Collaborate with production and procurement teams to optimize inventory management and purchasing decisions.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability analysis, to support decision-making.
Provide insightful financial forecasts and budgeting to support operational planning and strategic initiatives.
Present financial reports and analysis to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate external audits and facilitate the resolution of audit findings.
Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures, recommending updates as necessary to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support in executing their responsibilities.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance and accounting department.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to drive business initiatives and achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a cost accounting role within a manufacturing environment.
Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and inventory management.
Proficiency in financial analysis, including advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing a team.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
