The Controller is responsible for the monthly accounting & reporting of the Income statement, balance sheet and other financial reports. The Financial Manager is responsible for the whole finance function according to US GAAP and other legal regulations. The role involves partnering with accountants in the US & Canada to ensure timely & accurate reporting, while in compliance with US & Canadian GAAP.
Driving process improvement including cost accounting and segmented reporting will also be an integral part of this role.
Tasks include:
- Owns the accuracy of the financial statements including the Income statement, balance sheet and schedule of cash flow; including supporting reconciliations. including co-ordination of all schedules, reconciliations and reporting packages for review by senior management
- Prepares internal financial reports such as product line P&L statements, gross margin analyses, overhead analysis and other ad hoc reports as needed
- Ensures all reporting is submitted accurately and timely on the monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Prepares of various business reports on a timely basis providing accurate commentary and follow up on variances where required
- Liaisons with internal and external auditors, ensures compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Standards
- State and local business (property) returns are calculated and paid correctly
- Manage the finance department: knowing critical functions within the department and being capable of mentoring and assisting employees within the department
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, local and corporate laws, regulations and corporate policies. Review processes and investigate inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports. ensure the team is complying
- Corporate headquarter and statutory tax reporting and analysis.
- Preparation of US GAAP Financial Statements
- First point of contact for the banks, tax authorities, and consultants
- Other duties as assigned
To succeed, you should have:
- Formal Accountancy or Finance qualification
- + 5 years business experience in a similar position,
- Experience in a transportation is preferred
- Experience in ERP software
- Understanding of US GAAP
- High affinity with numbers, analytical thinking and structured working
- Ability to work well under pressure, strong problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-directed and motivated to continuously improve processes to exceed expectations and help promote a leading organization
- In depth hands on Accounting experience and willingness to work on as required.
- Excellent organizational interpersonal and time management skills
- Accepts responsibility and has the ability to make balanced decisions
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- CPA certification is beneficial
- Good English language skills (both Verbally and in Writing)
