Overview
Directs and manages the accounting operations, including the production of internal and external financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and ensuring accuracy of reported financial results in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Controller collaborates with employees at all levels within the organization, must be able to maintain professional working relationships, and provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget
- Oversees the daily operations of the accounting department
- Effectively prepare, manage, and report internal and external financial reports and analyses
- Translates complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance personnel
- Directs, coordinates, and maintains the accuracy and integrity of the financial statements of the organization in accordance with GAAP
- Establishes and implements financial policies, practices, and procedures for Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) in accordance with GAAP
- Manages the data integrity and functionality of accounting and payroll information systems
- Coordinates expenditure programs to coincide with forecasted cash flow
- Directs and coordinates annual audits with external auditors
- Oversees the general ledger, cash management, accounts payable and receivables, payroll, fixed assets and internal control policies and procedures
- Participates with the senior executive team in preparing financial presentations for the board of directors, stakeholders, and/or partners
- Establishes and implements policies & procedures and consults with senior management regarding recommended improvements and participates in establishing and implementing departmental goals and objectives
- Ensures accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and LSCC policies and procedures
- Recruits, trains, supervise, and evaluates the accounting personnel for optimal performance
- Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with LSCC personnel, departments, and management
- Accountable for establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with vendors, external auditors, and regulators and professional trade groups
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer and VP of Finance in managing the financial activities of the organization
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- Five (5) or more years of high-level accounting experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Five (5)+ years of previous accounting and/or financial management experience
- Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
- Previous healthcare experience
