Job Details
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee financial reporting internally, externally, and to stakeholders, including banks, members, and boards, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate forecasts and financial plans aligned with organizational objectives.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding and proper tracking of all pricing, promotion, IR, and Merchandise Funds, both receipt and use of funds.
Monitor and analyze budget variances, identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures, optimizing systems, and streamlining processes within the organization.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
Actively support financial strategic initiatives, including risk assessment, banking, legal, and tax compliance matters.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and high performance.
Establish and monitor relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
Demonstrate the ability to mobilize change within all levels of the organization.
Ensure the maintenance of appropriate financial records.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 10 years of experience managing direct reports in relevant functional areas.
Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations for all direct reports annually or when performance issues arise.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
CPA certification required.
10-15 years of accounting experience, including experience with public accounting firms and/or private accounting.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Strong financial management background, including budgeting, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
Proficiency with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Strong attributes in financial accounting and reporting; tax, federal, state, and local.
Ability to build relationships and effectively represent the organization to members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to work well with employees at all levels.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to consider the big picture when dealing with complex accounting issues.
Resourcefulness in dealing with new or difficult situations and finding solutions to problems; flexibility in meeting changing situations.
Motivated, goal-driven, with energy and passion for the job in any situation.
