CONTROLLER
Position Overview: As a Controller at our manufacturing company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our financial activities and ensuring the company's financial health and compliance. You will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role reports directly to the CFO.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Month-End Close:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Manage and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to CFO, parent company, and board of directors.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations.
- Implement budget controls and cost management strategies.
Cost Management:
- Analyze manufacturing costs and cost drivers.
- Work closely with operations to optimize cost efficiencies.
- Implement cost accounting policies and procedures.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and risks to the business.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports as needed.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Coordinate audits and reviews with external auditors.
Day to Day Accounting Functions:
oManage general accounting functions, which includes inter-company accounting, cost accounting and absorption, cash management, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manger
- Maintain the chart of accounts
Other:
- Assist as needed with M&A transactions including opening balance sheet preparation and review
- Coordinate activities of external auditors
- Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
- Manage treasury functions, including bank compliance reporting
- Work with external resources to manage company’s information technology
- Assist in administrative portion of onboarding new employees
- Assist in administration of insurance policies and renewals
- Supervise Staff Accountant
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and financial analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in financial software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
