We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanent Controller to join our international non-profit finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit accounting, grant management, and financial systems. The Permanent Controller will be responsible for managing the timely completion of month-end close out procedures, overseeing payroll processing, leading the annual audit, maintaining financial systems, and supervising the day-to-day finance staff. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanent Controller to join our international non-profit finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit accounting, grant management, and financial systems. The Permanent Controller will be responsible for managing the timely completion of month-end close out procedures, overseeing payroll processing, leading the annual audit, maintaining financial systems, and supervising the day-to-day finance staff. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the timely completion of month-end close out procedures and produce journal entries including but not limited to staff salaries allocations, indirect cost allocation, inter-company transfers, month-end adjustments for prepaids and accruals.
- Work with US and Global PEO providers to oversee payroll processing and utilize ADP Time and Attendance system to prepare an allocation schedule to allocate expenses on grants, indirect and common costs.
- Lead the annual audit for the US office, serving as point of contact for external auditors, preparing audited financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain GFC financial systems of accounts (Sage Intacct, Centage, Concur, HSBC and ADP Time and Attendance).
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and financial policies and procedures.
- Lead the annual 990 processes, ensuring all key schedules are provided, managing the review process among various stakeholders, and making sure filings are timely.
- Oversee the day-to-day finance and staff support the Finance team provides to the organization.
- Review and approve grant trackers of expenditures and reconciliation of the cash balances to restricted fund balances.
- Maintain control over restricted fund schedules (US and UK) including restricted accounts reconciliations, used to administer GFC’s grants portfolio.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in non-profit accounting or equivalent.
- Experience with grant management and grant accounting.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct is highly preferred.
- Understanding of multi-currency and multi-entity accounting is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel to include PIVOT Tables and V-Look-ups.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
