Job Description
Organizational Relationship: Reports to the CFO
Duties:
The Controller is a senior-level financial management position responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls functions within the organization.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to support organizational decision-making and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports on a regular basis. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance evaluation to assess the organization's financial health and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide recommendations to optimize financial performance, mitigate risks, and enhance profitability.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and prevent fraud and financial mismanagement. Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments to identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions, reconciliation of accounts, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Financial Systems and Technology: Implement, and maintain financial systems, software, and technology solutions to support efficient and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in financial management and accounting.
- Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the accounting team. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Set clear expectations, monitor performance, and provide feedback to promote professional growth and development.
- Audit: Serve as lead contact/liaison with external auditors
- Adhoc Reporting/Duties: Support CFO with additional reporting tasks and duties as
assigned.
