Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including monthly close process, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
- Manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and ensuring efficient completion of assigned tasks.
- Partner with the CFO and VP of Finance to develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
- Consolidate financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Work closely with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including operations, sales, and marketing, to provide financial analysis and support.
- Oversee tax accounting functions and collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Manage cash flow and develop strategies to optimize working capital.
- Stay abreast of industry regulations and accounting standards specific to the cannabis industry.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate controller or similar role, preferably within the cannabis industry.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting processes.
- Proven experience in managing and leading an accounting team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
