Controller - Construction
Responsibilities:
- Lead the collaborative development and execution of the company business/strategic plan
- Oversight and direction in the areas of Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resources, Administration, Risk Management and Information Technology
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
- Prepare and analyze financial reports such as: Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Loan Balance, WIP
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Payroll and Accounts Receivable
- Monitor banking activity including:
- Account balances and cash management
- Coordinate with banking representatives
- Provide month-end closeout for each company.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end financial reports and assist CPAs in year-end corporate tax returns.
- Obtain competitive rates and manage insurance policies
- Oversee payroll management
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Cultivate relationships with outside stakeholders including CPA/Audit firm, Bank, Insurance Agent, Bonding Agent, 3rd party IT, consultants and vendors
- Manage, develop, and train accounting and administrative staff
- Develop, implement and maintain a system of checks and balances over all accounting and administrative processes and procedures
- Work collaboratively with management team to identify and implement process and procedure improvement opportunities and to find solutions to corporate issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field
- Experience with the construction industry and job costing is required
- Proficiency in Sage 300/Timberline accounting software
- Proficiency in Excel
- Ability to prepare financial reports
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong leadership and managerial skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills including the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP
- Experience with financial management, including Budgeting, Profit & Loss, Cash and Banking, etc.
