About the role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead all areas of the controllership function including GL accounting, inventory, A/R, A/P, fixed assets, T&E, and cash management. This individual will be hands-on in leading and developing a best-in-class Accounting team and driving process improvements and efficiencies to support a growing business.
The Controller contributes to all areas of management and provides strong financial leadership. They will also provide financial direction to the manufacturing operations areas, as well as make recommendations to improve site performance.
This key leadership role will report directly to the CFO and will be sitting on-site in Burbank, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Direct oversight of day-to-day and monthly transactions and manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L,Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports, including coordinating with finance to understand budget to actual variances
- Analyze variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions
- Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for the Company
- Must work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, country, or corporate objectives
- Integrates and trains new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team
- Shares best practices across finance and accounting team, e.g., process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes
- Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
- Collaborates with Senior Management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis
- Monitor and implement internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
- Ensures proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as local statutory requirements
- Estimate product costs to support SKU level analysis
- Lead a high-performing team; ensuring achievement of key outcomes through regular performance management.
- Identify and implement systems, tools and process changes to streamline the work of the accounting function and reduce time to close
- Partner with key business stakeholders to support business needs
- Work with outside accountants to deliver successful annual audit
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA strongly preferred
- At least 15 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Cost accounting experience
- Experience in ERP/MRP system (Netsuite/D365 Business Central/SAP Hana), with assessment/implementation experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of VAT and sales tax
- Good planning and organizational skills and strong analytical skills
- Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, public groups, peers and staff
- Excellent communication skills, internally and with clients
- Ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and staff in charge

Adhering to the requirements of California's law on salary transparency, the salary bracket for this role is set between $170,000 and $185,000 annually. The offered salary may be adjusted based on various factors such as the applicant's qualifications, skills, and professional experience.
