Job Details
Responsibilities and Duties
Administrative
Collaborate with the CFO in the development of the finance team, including staffing, performance management, and training to include supervising AP/Payable role and expense management functions.
Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance department and ensure data integrity of all financial information.
Participate in the development and implementation of financial systems and technology.
Participate in departmental meetings as required.
Effectively present and discuss the organization’s financials with leadership and department heads.
Accounting and Reporting
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial information to include monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines are established, followed and that all team members responsible for closings are defined and department goals are met.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual filings with the State of Maryland.
Identify and resolve accounting and/or accounting system irregularities and discrepancies.
Prepare monthly expense analysis and explain variations month to month.
Prepare account reconciliations as needed for monthly closings.
Manage and reconcile fixed assets and ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled each month.
Oversee the system of monthly general and standard journal entries, account reconciliations and comparative reports, monthly accounts payable coding and accruals.
Create month end reports, including Department P&L
Ensure any new cost centers or general ledger accounts are mapped in the financials correctly.
Budgeting
Conduct monthly department budget to actual analysis and meetings with department heads.
Work with the finance team to co-lead the budget process for all annual budgets and re-projections. Summarize budgets for review with CFO.
Create budget templates and ensure budgets are entered into the appropriate budget templates.
Prepare practice profitability analysis.
Complete cost analysis.
Recommend areas for cost-savings.
