Controller Role

We are actively seeking candidates for a Controller position at our corporate office and factory located in Boston. The Controller holds a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations, including month-end reporting, budgeting, preparing for government compliance, and oversight of related real estate entities. Reporting directly to the owner, this is a great opportunity to broaden your skills in operations, interaction with leadership, and corporate accounting and finance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/financial management; roles within a manufacturing company a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present, influence, and collaborate effectively at the leadership level.
• Must be solutions-oriented, possess excellent time management skills, and have the ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the month-end close, financial statements, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, cash flow analyses, budget vs. actual, and forecast vs. actual analyses.
• Sets up financial infrastructure and works with auditors/accountants to ensure the appropriate internal controls are in place.
• Assists with annual audit and tax preparation by outside accounting/audit firms.
• Coordinates the timely completion of all month-end workpapers and financial reporting with staff.
• Prepare and record month end journal entries
• Monitor bank and cash flow activity
• Oversee expense allocation to ensure cost allocation is accurate in accounting system.
• Provide oversight in preparation and submittals for government audits, governmental survey requests, and maintaining government renewals for industry specific programs (ie. HUBZone, ITAR, etc)
• Oversees activity of rental properties, including collection of rent and allocation of CAM charges.
• Provide oversight and leadership to the accounting department, identify areas for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
• Oversees staff within Finance department (i.e. Senior Staff Accountants, AP/AR Clerks, etc.).
