Our company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to lead our team in Alpharetta, GA. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to apply their knowledge and expertise in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry, with a focus on job costing and construction accounting concepts. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, providing strategic input, and ensuring the financial integrity of the company.
Responsibilities:
As a Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing all financial operations and directing corporate financial planning and structure.
2. Coordinating, analyzing, and reporting the financial performance to management and board of directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required).
3. Preparing short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.
4. Overseeing audit and tax functions, and coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms' performance.
5. Developing, implementing and maintaining accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other corporate policies.
6. Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP standards.
7. Managing the budget process for the firm and its divisions and subsidiaries.
8. Maintaining a strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting concepts.
9. Preparing a work in progress schedule and managing union reporting, journal entries, and fixed assets.
10. Functioning as the controller for job cost and other financial aspects.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the construction industry.
2. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
3. Public accounting experience is a plus.
4. Viewpoint accounting software experience is a plus
5. Extensive knowledge of job costing and construction accounting concepts.
6. Experience in preparing a work in progress schedule.
7. Familiarity with union reporting, journal entries, fixed assets, and job cost.
8. The ability to function as a controller. (The ability to work independently and as part of a team.)
