Company Overview:
Our client is a leader in the construction industry, dedicated to delivering high-quality projects with integrity and precision. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. This pivotal role requires a strong financial acumen and hands-on experience with accounting software, particularly Foundation. The Construction Controller will play a key role in maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements while providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and collections.

• Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses to support strategic decision-making and provide insights to senior management.

• Work in Process Report: Assist the CFO with the preparation of the Work-In-Process report, ensuring reconciliation to the General Ledger and conducting related job-level analysis.

• Budgeting: Maintain and analyze accurate budget reports, providing insights on progress toward financial goals.

• Change Orders: Supervise and maintain the entry of change orders and related budgets in accounting software.

• Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including use tax returns and multi-state agency regulations. Assist the CFO with information requests for compliance and government audits.

• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

• Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by the CFO, using financial expertise to support business growth.

• Internal Controls: Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).

• 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial management role within the construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, construction billing, and percentage of completion accounting methods.

• Proficiency with construction industry software (e.g., Foundation or similar).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.

• In-depth knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
