Job Details
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and experience with accounting software, particularly Foundations. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements while providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Manage all aspects of financial operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and collections.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis to support decision-making and provide insights to senior management.
- Work in Process Report: Assist CFO in preparation of the Work-In-Process report, reconciliation to the General Ledger and related job level analysis.
- Budgeting: Maintain accurate budget reports and provide analysis on goals.
- Change Orders: Maintain/Supervise entry of change orders and related budgets in Accounting Software.
- Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including use tax returns and multi-state agencies, and assist CFO with information requests for compliance and Government audits.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Ad hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CFO, leveraging your financial expertise to drive business growth and success.
- Internal Controls: Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial management role (construction industry experience is required).
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, construction billing, and percentage of completion accounting methods.
- Experience with construction industry software (e.g., Foundation, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial team members.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
