Position Overview:
Nevada seeksa highly skilled and detail-oriented Contract Specialist to join our Elko Regional Business Office. The successful candidate will manage contracts and procurement processes, ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and support the operational needs of Nevada Gold Mines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management:
- Develop, negotiate, and administer complex contracts for goods and services related to mining operations.
- Lead the contract tendering process, including developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bid management, and contract formation.
- Evaluate suppliers and contractors based on financial status, capabilities, performance, and cost.
- Procurement and Compliance:
- Oversee purchasing orders, invoices, accruals, payments, and cost accounting administration.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to procurement and contracting.
- Manage contract and change order processes, ensuring company policy and procedure adherence.
- Financial Oversight:
- Track project costs and budgets weekly and monthly, including developing Labor, Equipment, and Material (LEMs) reports.
- Prepare cost and progress reports against budgets and schedules using Earned Value Management principles.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Liaise with supply chain, purchasing, and inventory control teams to ensure efficient procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all contracting activities and correspondence.
- Support continuous improvement of standards and document control systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Contract Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or equivalent.
- Experience with construction contracts (NEC, FIDIC, EPC, EPCM).
- Familiarity with mining operations and related procurement needs.
