The Government Contracts Specialist will have knowledge of government contract processes, understanding of request for proposal (RFP) bidding and procurement process, compliance within the recycling and solid waste industries in WA. This role is responsible for managing and securing government contracts, monitoring and responding to upcoming RFPs, ensuring all documentation and relevant reporting is accurate, and maintaining relationships with government agencies and contracted services clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Bids & Proposals
- Identify government contract opportunities, prepare competitive bids, and submit accurate proposals for recycling and waste services.
- Contract Compliance
- Ensure adherence to government regulations, contract terms, and execution of services agreed upon.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of contracts, bids, and performance and any required reporting, ensuring timely submissions and accuracy.
- Relationship Management
- Build and sustain strong relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as other institutions we service.
- Risk Mitigation
- Identify potential risks in contracts and develop strategies ensuring profitability and regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-5 Years of experience in securing and managing government contracts.
- Strong understanding of government procurement procedures and regulations (local, state, and federal).
- Proficiency in preparing bids, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Knowledge of compliance with government contracting laws and guidelines.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business administration or related field.
- Familiarity with industry regulations in Washington state related to recycling and solid waste
- Previous experience with government solid waste and recycling contracts is highly preferred.
