About the Job
Scope of Work
SCS Global Services (SCS) seeks a contract organic inspector to support the growth of its Organic Certification program. The inspector is responsible for conducting inspections in accordance with requirements of the National Organic Program, and with SCS’ quality and code of conduct standards. Inspectors are needed to conduct organic crop production and processing inspections across the United States. Candidates must be willing to travel regionally and receive at least 10 inspection assignments per year. Travel related expenses are reimbursed by SCS.
Contractor Requirements
Contract inspectors will be awarded work on the basis of their skill and ability to meet technical requirements. Qualified applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Agribusiness Management; Agricultural/Crop Sciences; Environmental Sciences; Ecosystem Management; Plant/Soil Sciences).
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience in certification, verification, auditing or quality management systems, with at least 2 years’ experience as an organic inspector.
- Completion of training in the following areas:
- IOIA Basic Crop/Processing Inspector Training or equivalent
- ISO 9001 or 19011 or equivalent (preferred)
