About the Position:
Marquee Legal seeks an experienced Litigation Contract Attorney to support our clients high-volume litigation practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with a solid background in heavy litigation, exceptional analytical skills, and a strong ability to manage multiple cases. The position is based in Orange County, CA, and candidates must be in good standing with the California State Bar.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
o Handle a high caseload of complex litigation matters, from pre-trial preparation through trial or settlement.
o Manage all aspects of the litigation process, including drafting and filing pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and trial preparations.
Legal Research and Analysis:
o Conduct thorough legal research and provide analysis on various case law, statutes, and legal precedents.
o Prepare detailed memoranda and legal briefs, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
Discovery:
o Lead discovery efforts, including taking and defending depositions, managing document review, and preparing discovery responses.
o Oversee e-discovery processes to ensure compliance with procedural rules and effective case strategy.
Court Appearances and Hearings:
o Represent clients in court, handling motions, hearings, and trials as necessary.
o Communicate case developments and strategies to clients, keeping them informed and prepared for all proceedings.
Trial Preparation and Support:
o Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and other documentation necessary for successful case presentation.
o Participate in witness preparation, jury selection, and crafting opening/closing statements.
Client Relations and Communication:
o Maintain regular communication with clients to discuss case strategy, progress, and outcomes.
o Advise clients on legal risks and issues, providing timely updates and potential resolutions.
Qualifications:
Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience with a heavy focus on the following:
? Complex Commercial Litigation Experience managing multi-party cases, business torts, contract disputes, and shareholder litigation.
? Construction or Real Estate Litigation Knowledge of construction defect claims, property disputes, or landlord-tenant issues is a plus.
? Insurance Defense or Personal Injury Familiarity with defending against tort claims, premises liability, or product liability cases is beneficial.
Education and Licensing:
o Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
o Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
Skills and Abilities:
o Strong knowledge of California litigation procedures and substantive law.
o Excellent writing and drafting skills for briefs, motions, and discovery documents.
o Proficiency in conducting depositions and handling e-discovery tools.
o Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
o Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Contract Details:
Duration: 6-12 months, with potential for extension based on workload and case requirements.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
Work Environment: In-office presence for client meetings and court appearances in Orange County.
