Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Consulting Resources, the Consulting Associate will work with a team of Consultants, Contract Consultants, Project Managers, and other project support team members on a variety of client engagements at the firm. The Consulting Associate will participate in developing and delivering high quality presentations, reports, and other materials to our clients. The Consulting Associate plays a key role in ensuring that GG+A’s clients receive the thoughtful, insightful, and reliable data-driven advice that has become synonymous with the GG+A brand. The Consulting Associate role requires extensive people, communication, project management, and organizational skills, and a high level of quality and accuracy.
The Consulting Associate, led by a Project Director, collects and ensures the integrity of the necessary data, performs rigorous analysis, and then drafts clear, compelling, insightful and accurate reports and presentations for GG+A’s clients. The Consulting Associate also performs marketing/sales duties to increase GG+A’s client base.
The Consulting Associate is assigned to a GG+A Practice Area(s) that aligns with their expertise and background. The Practice Area Leader(s) will provide additional oversight, coaching, and mentoring of the Consulting Associate and utilize the Consulting Associate across the Practice Area’s client engagements.
As the most senior Practice Area team member based out of GG+A’s corporate headquarters, the Consulting Associate will help to manage the activities of the Project Managers and Project Associates on each engagement to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
A successful Consulting Associate will ensure the highest integrity of data collected and subsequently offer thoughtful recommendations based on that collected data. The Consulting Associate must also expertly compile all findings/recommendations of the project group and compose a cohesive first draft of the report.
In this role, the Consulting Associate will gain exposure to a broad range of clients, domestically and likely internationally, and have substantial opportunity for professional growth through working with and learning from top development professionals.

- Demonstrate GG+A’s mission, vision and values
- Work as part of a team on client engagements, both in and out of an assigned Practice Area (Higher Education, Arts & Culture, Healthcare/Academic Medicine, Advancement Services, Strategic Communications, or Alumni Relations) to perform fundraising assessments, program reviews, feasibility studies, alumni relations assessments, case for support development, etc. across a spectrum of non-profit institutions that vary by size, mission, and sector
- Perform on- and off-site data collection, project interviews with key client staff and stakeholders, background client research, cohort analysis, comparative data analytics, etc.
- Analyze collected client data to formulate initial data charts, findings, and recommendations
- Such analysis includes reviewing and evaluating interview results for initial key findings, themes, and quotes to share with the consulting team
- Provide initial review of benchmarking data and extrapolates key findings
- Gather and integrate initial observations and recommendations from the consulting team and subsequently drafts the initial iteration of the client report
- Prepare clear, compelling, high-impact presentations and reports
- Review client reports and presentations for content and consistency to ensure the final reports and client presentations are cohesive and accurate
- Such review usually includes the reconciliation of benchmarking data, Major Gifts Portfolio Analysis (MGPA), and other analytics to ensure alignment throughout the report/presentation
- Onboard, develop/mentor, and help manage the project activities of the Consulting Resources team assigned to each engagement
- Work with, and help oversee the work of, Consulting Resources team members to prepare and refine client deliverables for each project engagement
- Collaborate with Project Director (Lead Consultant) and project support staff to create agendas and materials for Internal Launch Meeting, On-Site Project Launch Meeting, Internal Mid-Project Meeting, Report Preparation Team Meeting, and End of Project Team Meeting
- Work simultaneously on numerous projects with different Project Directors
- Participate in sales presentations/initiatives
- Engage in marketing activity both individually and as a partner with other consultants
- Work on special projects, serve the firm and assigned Practice Area, and execute other duties as assigned
- Manage own billable, non-billable, and marketing hours and tracks and records such hours against defined project deliverables and timelines
- Able to delegate, provide oversight to, mentor, and develop Project Managers and other Consulting Resources team members
- Ability and willingness and ability to travel occasionally (less than 15% of the time) to client sites
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Advanced degree (MSc. of Fundraising, MBA, JD, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of development experience with demonstrable knowledge of fundraising best practices and the non-profit sector, preferred
- Demonstrated fluency with Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Salesforce, SharePoint, and Tableau tools helpful
